Circular Exchange -The New Economy

“Circular Exchange -The New Economy” is an event focused on building opportunities for Circular business and investment in Lagos. We use the term “exchange” to imagine a future where information about circular business opportunity is easily accessible and trade between circular businesses is well established. As we still have some ways to work towards this goal, “exchange” also reflects our desire to work across different organizations to consider how we can make circular business and investment opportunity more accessible.

The events taking place at the exchange this year are the culmination of multiple programmes which have taken place over the past year, with thanks an incredible number of partners that have devoted time, ideas and resources to make them as successful as possible. These programmes include:

  • The Circular Lagos Challenge and the LOOPLab Incubation Programme – An innovation challenge programme which pairs start-ups to more established companies. The purpose of the programme is to identify and nurture business partnerships. The project is borne out of the Circular Lagos Initiative, driven by the Lagos State Circular Economy Technical Working Group . It is supported by GIZ and the Dutch Enterprise Agency.
  • The LOOPLab Research Fellowship – A research challenge programme designed to support studies to build their capacity to act as consultants and develop applied research skills. Designed to complement the Circular Lagos Challenge, UNILAG, the University of Igbinedion and NUTM and Lancaster University have driven this project.
  • The Circular Business Platform – An independent organization that is designed to promote the development of circular business and investment activity in Lagos. The Platform was conceived through an initial  Circular Economy business research study identified by The Netherlands Consulate in Lagos and  financed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.  The Platform has been developed in partnership with business, research and advocacy organizations, Lagos State Government and supported by the Netherlands Consulate in Lagos.
